Food for the Soul: Stolen iPhone.. But Thank You Jesus!

Sooo someone stole my iphone at Wal-Mart yesterday. I was at the self check out, set it down to look for my keys in my purse, walked to my car (which was parked in the front of the parking lot), and when I got to the car I realized I left it. I went running back and it was gone. Asked all the cashiers and manager if anyone saw anything or turned anything in and it was negative. I left my name and number. It was horrible. Within literally 1-2 minutes my phone was gone. So I was able to cancel the line and I am using an old blackberry which will do for now.

My thoughts..
how could people be so cruel
I cannot believe I set it down and walked away...
Brendan is in Tulsa, OK and I don't have a way to get ahold of him..
iPhones are expensive :(

I am able to get an upgrade and replace my old iphone for $99. So I will probably do that in time. I was able to get in touch with Brendan right after it happened and I got home because he has a work land line. And yes I was upset (insert crying my eyes out, sitting on the floor in my room bewildered and telling myself how could you be so stupid?! - dramatic much).. People are crazy and so dishonest in this day and age. I was the most upset that someone would be that dishonest. You feel like your hope in society is lost.

BUT then I had to start thanking God because it could have been my car, my identity, theft at gunpoint, my wallet, or even my very LIFE! Possessions are just that.. things you have and possess. I couldn't be that upset anymore.
"In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you"
(1 Thess. 5:18)
I thought about all the things that are not possessions .. I have the truth, salvation, a relationship with the Lord, a good church, a loving husband whom I adore, family, and friends.. I have peace of mind, the joy of the Lord, love in my heart and a compassion for the Lost.

"Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice" (Philippians 4:4)
God has been so good to me. Whatever He allows to happen is for my good. Everything we go through in life is to be perfected. God has His hand on His children and He knows what is best for us. I can completely trust that God knows exactly what He is doing in every situation in my life. I can have peace and blessed consolation.

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." (Philippians 4:8)
