So, how often should you moisturize your hair?

It depends on if your hair has high porosity, normal porosity or low porosity. Click here to find out how to do the hair porosity test on your hair!

  • Hair with High Porosity: Because your hair absorbs products so quickly, you need to moisturize the most often. Aim for twice a day, and commit to at least once a day.
  • Hair with Normal Porosity: Your hair is quite balanced, so you only need to moisturize when necessary. That could be once a week, could be once every few days.
  • Hair with Low Porosity: Try to moisturize daily or every other day. It takes your hair a little more to absorb the moisture, so you have to work in the product either by "sandwiching" the product into your hair stands or gently smoothing it in. I have hair with low porosity so I moisturize daily, sometimes twice a day!
How do I find time to moisturize daily or every twice a day?

It doesn't take more than a few minutes! You can moisturize simply by using water. Spritz the hair with water in the morning before styling using a small spray bottle. If you need added moisture, seal with a light oil like grape seed or jojoba. In the evenings before tying up your hair for bed, spritz with water, seal if necessary and tie it up!

How often do you moisturize your hair? Should you be doing it more often or less often? How do you make sure you are maintaining a good moisture balance in your hair?
